Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has revealed that his former teammates Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing, who currently play for West Ham United, would be asked to do their old club a massive favour by beating Premier League title favourites Manchester City on Sunday.
Lucas said that his club would be texting the former Liverpool striker and winger duo before Sunday when West Ham would go up against Manchester City in the Premier League clash.
According to the Daily Star, Lucas said that of course Carroll and Downing have been at Liverpool with them, worked with them and he is sure that the duo would do their best to get points for West Ham first and help their former club to revive their chances of winning the English title.
The Brazilian midfielder said that it is not the end of the season as they have still got Newcastle United to play, adding that it is quite hard for City to drop many points, but Liverpool still has to believe that maybe something good is coming for them.
Lucas feels that the former Liverpool striker-winger duo can still help them end their 24-year wait for the Premier League title this year by defeating City on Sunday.
Carroll currently plays for West Ham as a striker with Downing playing at the club as winger, the report added.
