The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Thursday amid a continued uproar over the motion to suspend 11 members for repeatedly raking up the Telangana statehood issue.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the second time till 12.45 hours earlier in the day.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath, who moved a motion to suspend the 11 members for continuously raising the Telangana issue, said these members should be suspended for the rest of the Monsoon Session to ensure a smooth functioning of the House.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, protested against the motion, and said that her party is in favour of formation of a Telangana state. But she regretted the manner in which the ruling Congress Party had announced the creation of a separate state.
The Centre has assured the Rajya Sabha that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh 'may intervene' in the opposition's demand that he make a statement on the matter of missing files related to the allocation of coal blocks.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari has accepted the resignation of TDP MP N. Harikrishna from the Upper House.
