The resignation of 13 MP's from Andhra Pradesh was rejected by the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Friday.
The MP's who tendered their resignation to oppose the bifurcation of the state included ten from Congress and two from YSR Congress.
The Speaker did not find the resignations in the proper format. The Lok Sabha release said Constitutional provisions and rules of procedure and conduct of business in Lok Sabha stipulate that resignation should be in a proper format and a member doing so shall not give any reason for the resignation.
The members who had resigned include Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, M Rajamohan Reddy, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, G V Harsha Kumar, V Aruna Kumar, A Sai Prathap, Sabbam Hari, among others.
On October 3, the Union Cabinet had decided to go ahead with the process for the creation of a separate Telangana state carved out from Andhra Pradesh.
