Taking a leap at the approval of the extension of Karnataka former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa's land de-notification case by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi on Saturday said that Lokayukta is an independent body and can take prompt decisions without being intervened.
He further said, "Former Karnataka CM has already been convicted for several cases and already 15 FIRs have been registered as directed by the Lokayukta on the basis of the CAG reports."
The Supreme Court on Monday put for final adjudication a petition filed by the Karnataka Government against the high court ruling to quash 15 FIRs against former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in cases relating to de-notification of land.
A bench of Justices A K Sikri and Ashok Bhushan posted Karnataka's special leave petition for consideration in the third week of September, as advocate Joseph Aristotle, appearing for the state, submitted that the matter required detailed hearing.
