London has been named the most googled city in the world for its art galleries, with the city's museums taking up the top three slots of the most searched list.
Tabloid media revealed that in a research carried out by London and Partners, the London mayor's official promotional company to launch London's Autumn Season of Culture, capital's Science museum grabbed the top slot, reported the BBC.
It also stated that the Natural History Museum was the second most searched-for and the British Museum was third followed by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC.
Commenting on the result, Ian Blatchford, director of the Science Museum said that it is fantastic that so many people across world were seeking out the Science Museum and this new data provided yet more evidence of the world class status of British museums.
Meanwhile, Mayor Boris Johnson added that London was without a doubt the cultural capital of the world and its theatres also generate more searches than those in any other city.
