Australia's limited-overs big-hitter Chris Lynn will miss the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he sustained a shoulder injury on Wednesday.

Lynn will return to Brisbane for further assessment, after suffering a dislocated right shoulder while attempting a dive in the field during the T20 Tri-Series final against New Zealand which Australia won by 19 runs.

However, the 27-year-old is still hopeful of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is to begin from April 7.

"I'm disappointed to not go to the Pakistan Super League as planned (this week), but I'll now focus on rehabilitation and working as hard as I can, with the hope to still take part in the Indian Premier League later this year," Cricket.com.au quoted Lynn as saying.

The right-handed batsman was fielding at midwicket, when he tried to intercept a clip from Ross Taylor and while doing so, he landed awkwardly on his right shoulder.

Soon after the incident, Australia's medical staff inspected Lynn's injury before the batsman walked off the field clutching his right arm in pain.

"Chris dislocated his right shoulder after landing awkwardly on it when fielding the ball. His shoulder was able to be put back into place at the ground and he was consequently sent for X-Rays which revealed no major bone injury," Australia's physio, Alex Kountouris said.

He added, "At this stage Chris will not travel to the Pakistan Super League in Dubai. He will return to Brisbane to undergo further scans and assessment and from there we will have a better understanding of the ongoing management, along with the return-to-play timeframes."

Lynn has made a conscious effort not to dive this summer following a series of crippling shoulder injuries.

The middle-order batsman, who is among the top candidates to lead Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL this season, had earlier undergone three bouts of surgery on his left shoulder.
