The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday slammed Congress leader M.M. Hassan for his remarks against menstruating women and asked him to think before making such immature comments.
BJP leader Shaina NC said that it is very naive of the Congress leader to make such regressive comments in the 21st century.
"M.M. Hassan should think before making immature comments in 21st century. When a women works in every condition through the month, rather than commenting on a gynaecological issue or an issue which is limited to women and women's biology. I think he should focus on what he could do to9 empower women rather than making regressive comments," said NC.
In a shocking remark, Hassan had said that menstruation is impure and women should not enter places of worship during that time.
"Menstruation is impure and during this period women should not enter temples. There is a scientific reason behind the instruction that women should enter during this period. It should not be given other interpretations. During this period, Muslim women do not observe fast. My opinion is that women should not go to temple, mosque or church when their body is impure," he said at a public function after he took over as KPCC's interim president.
