Continuing his campaign against Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi over the British citizenship issue, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday asserted that he had made the allegation only on the basis of proper investigation against the latter and once again asked him to produce documents of his citizenship.
"We have already done the investigation. We have found out that he has himself admitted of being a British citizen, not once but five times. I have done the investigation and produced it. Now it is for him to say how this British citizenship thing came. I did not make this allegation, I have only brought it to the knowledge of the public of India," Swamy told ANI.
"He must now bring out all the files and out it here, because he did not disclose it in the income returns or in his affidavit that he filed as a candidate in 2004 and 2009. He did not tell the Reserve Bank that he has earned so much foreign exchange. This is a case for the Enforcement Directorate, also under the PMLA act. I am sure the Government of India will prosecute him," he added.
