Madonna has revealed that she felt "incarcerated" during her seven-year marriage to second husband Guy Ritchie.
The 56-yaer-old singer said that that like any relationship, the former couple's dynamic involved sacrifices, only it affected her career, Us Magazine reported.
The 'Rebel Heart' singer added that she thinks when people get married they have to be willing to make a lot of compromises, which is fair enough, and that's the way it goes in relationships.
Madonna noted that however, she found herself sometimes in a state of conflict. There were many times when she wanted to express herself as an artist in ways that she doesn't think her ex-husband felt comfortable with.
Madonna, who divorced Ritchie in 2008, revealed that there were times when she felt incarcerated as she wasn't really allowed to be herself.
The superstar, who shares a 14-year-old son Rocco with the 46-year-old British director, continued that it doesn't mean that marriage is a bad thing, but if you're an artist you've got to find someone who accepts who you are and are comfortable with that.
