The three-day special session of Maharashtra Assembly began on Monday in Mumbai. State Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao administered the oath to Jeeva Pandu Gavit as pro-tem Speaker of the Assembly in Raj Bhavan today.

On the very first day, Shiv Sena clearly gave indications of its aggression as the newly elected MLAs criticized Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minister Eknath Khadse outside Vidhan Bhavan for his decision about Urdu education in Marathi schools.

This session is considered to be critical for Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as the picture about the support for his government is not yet clear.

BJP's estranged ally Shiv Sena is changing its stance from time to time and on the other hand, the NCP is expected to make the picture clear in today's press conference in the evening.

The Congress earlier today elected senior leader Radha Krishna Vikhepatil as the leader of the legislature party.
