Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday reached the disaster management room to take stock of situation prevailing in Mumbai following heavy rains and problems related to water logging.
Earlier in the day, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) ordered state schools to remain shut.
The heavy overnight rain has disrupted local train service in Mumbai and the traffic in several parts of the city has been moving at a snail's pace due to excessive water-logging on the streets.
Meanwhile, a high tide in the Arabian Sea is expected around 2 p.m. today.
Seasonal rains in Mumbai began after the southwest monsoon hit the western coast last week.
