The Congress Party is leading a massive protest outside the Maharashtra Assembly against Speaker Haribhau Bagade's decision to forego the division vote during the confidence motion today.
The Shiv Sena has also upped the ante against the BJP Government and demanded a fresh trust vote. Sena MLAs today also stopped the Maharashtra Governor's car outside the state assembly.
Party leader Ramdas Kadam had earlier said that they would speak to the NCP on moving a motion of no-confidence against the Speaker.
The Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government won the vote of confidence in the Maharashtra state Aassembly through a voice vote today, which former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan termed as 'illegitimate'.
"We strongly condemn the decision by the Speaker not to hold another vote. This is an illegitimate government. It is a black day for Maharashtra's democracy. We will demand another round of trust vote," Chavan said.
