The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said the Maharshtra government will ensure that the culprits behind the attack on CPI leader Govind Pansare and his wife are quickly brought to justice.
"Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said yesterday that the culprits who attacked Pansare will be very quickly apprehended and brought to justice. I think such events happening after some gap in Maharashtra are highly unacceptable," BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao told ANI.
"The state government will take immediate steps to apprehend the culprits and ensure they are given the harshest punishment possible," he added.
Pansare and his wife were severely injured after unknown assailants fired on the couple while they were out for their morning walk at Sagarmala area of Kolhapur city yesterday.
The couple are now reportedly in a serious but stable condition.
