The Congress on Friday described the 14 day study tour to Australia, Singapore and New Zealand by the team of Maharashtra ministers highly objectionable and insensitive.

Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said, "I have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed him to order the chief minister to recall the ministers who are on study tour. If they want to go on a study tour, they can but later, once the problem solved. Currently, the farmers are committing suicide and are facing severe problems," Chavan said.

Another Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam said, "We are not against study tours per say. The legislatures, ministers go for study tours to different countries including ministers from our government. But the important thing is when Maharashtra's rural areas and farmers are suffering from problems, the whole Maharashtra is on the streets demanding for loan waive off. At this point of time, the agriculture minister and the food minister of Maharashtra is going on a study tour is completely objectionable. We demand from the government that these ministers should be recalled as early as possible for showing insensitiveness towards the issue of Maharashtra, towards the problems of Maharashtra. The government must take care of the interest of all the farmers.
