With reports saying that the voter turnout in the Maharashtra Assembly polls has been far from spectacular so far, Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday expressed confidence that the voter turnout will increase gradually as the day progresses.
"I am sure the turnout will increase, I am sure Maharashtra will vote for the leaders they trust," said a beaming Thackeray after he cast his vote at Bandra (East).
The Sena chief's wife and his son Aditya Thackeray also accompanied him to cast their respective ballots as all three stood for a photo opportunity outside the polling booth.
Polling began this morning in Maharashtra's 288 assembly constituencies to elect a new Legislative Assembly in the state. The polling began at 7.00 am today and will conclude at 6.00 pm. The counting of votes will be held on October 19.
