Mahila Congress activists staged demonstrations here on Tuesday over the rise in cases of women being exploitated.
Shradha Sharma, an activist, said, "There has been an instant rise in the cases of violence against women in Madhya Pradesh. This rally is against cases of women exploitation, including rape, domestic violence and female foeticide and we have gathered to promote women empowerment."
The main motive of this rally was to empower them to combat crime and condemn what they termed as misrule by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.
Participants clad in historical costumes raised slogans against the state government over the deteriorating law and order situation.
Sumitra Pawar, another activist dressed as Rani Laxmi Bai held the state government responsible for the cases of exploitation of women.
Pawar said state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan should put on bangles for not doing enough to end crimes against women.
