The famous Indian-origin Gupta family's 500 million rand law suit against the Mail-Guardian is 'ludicrous', the newspaper's editor-in-chief Chris Roper has said.
Roper said that half a billion rand is a ludicrous amount and it seems like an amount which is more about intimidation than justice.
According to news24, he said that they were condiment about winning the case.
The complaint was lodged in the North Gauteng High Court on 15 August.
It related to an article published in the newspaper in March this year headlined 'R10bn contract behind the dogfight at national carrier'.
