Majority of Americans want US to halt Egypt aid: Poll

When asked which group would provide the best leadership for Egypt, 46% said the Egyptian Military, while just 11% said the Muslim Brotherhood

More than half of Americans want the United States to cut off aid to Egypt, a new poll has found.

The poll from the Pew Research Center found that nearly 51% of those surveyed said the Obama administration should cut off aid to pressure the Egyptian Government, as violence and unrest continue to plague the country.

Just 26 percent of those surveyed said it is better to continue aid to help influence what happens in the country.

According to Politico, the poll fund that half of those surveyed thought President Barack Obama has not been tough enough on Egypt and just six percent said he has been too tough.

Nearly 12% thought his reaction was about right, while 32% said they didn't know.

When asked which group would provide the best leadership for Egypt, 46% said the Egyptian Military, while just 11% said the Muslim Brotherhood, and 19% said neither group would provide the best leadership, the report added.
