Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked the people of Maharashtra to help the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) win by a majority in the upcoming legislative assembly elections in the state, adding that if two parties come to power via an alliance, it may lead to a blame game between the parties involved over various issues.

"October 15 is the day to get rid of corruption that has been prevailing in India from the past 15 years. If a government is formed in Maharashtra in an alliance, the parties involved will keep blaming each other for everything. This is why it is important to make a party win by a full majority," said Prime Minister Modi, while addressing a rally in Khamgaon in Maharashtra.

"You can question a party in such a case. Today if you question the Congress over anything, they will say that it was NCP's fault and if you ask NCP they will blame it on the Congress. The Congress ruled from the Panchayat to the Parliament for 60 years, did they ever give a report card of their work? Did they ever give answers?" the Prime Minister said.

He further stressed on the need to provide more employment opportunities to the farmers of Maharashtra.

"I have a F5 formula for the farmers in Maharashtra; Farm to Fiber to Fabric to Fashion to Foreign. This is my F5 formula, and with this my farmers will be happy. People will get better employment opportunities if this formula is implied," Prime Minister Modi said.

"If water reaches every field in Maharashtra, our farmers will gold but due to frequent power cuts this has not been possible. If the BJP comes to power in this state, I will free you from these issues within five years," he added.

Maharashtra will go to polls on October 15. The counting of votes will take place on October 19.
