A new study has revealed that most men, who hit their peak alcohol consumption at age 25, grow out of binge drinking only to become regular boozers in middle to old age.
The University College London findings claim that male drinking peaks at the age of 25 when they down the equivalent of 10 pints of beer a week in one or two sessions, the Daily Express reported.
Researcher Annie Britton said that frequent drinking, daily or on most days, became more common most notably among men, reaching above 50 per cent in men aged 65.
Britton added that the high proportion of older men drinking daily is a bit alarming as there are risks of mixing alcohol with medications.
The study is published in the journal BMC Medicine.
