Manchester City effectively secured their Champions League spot on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League tie, thanks to Sergio Aguero's first-half strike.
The Argentine international scored the decisive goal, his 22nd league goal this season, in the 29th minute in order to boost his chances of finishing the campaign as top scorer, the BBC reported.
Although Tottenham made several attempts to equalize, City Keeper Joe Hart produced a stellar performance to fend off opponents' strikes.
The win has put second-placed City nine points clear of Liverpool, who are fifth, in the league table with three more games to spare.
