Manchester United have joined Manchester City in the race to transfer Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna to their side.

City reportedly look confident that Sagna, who declared his intentions of leaving Arsenal, will sign a four-year deal worth 1,00,000 pounds-a-weak, but their rivals United believe that they can turn the French International's head to join them.

According to the Mirror, United have pointed out that Sagna would have to play second fiddle to City right-back Pablo Zabaleta.

Speculations are that incoming boss Louis van Gaal does not like United right-back Rafael and reportedly believes that Robin van Persie can help the club lure his former Arsenal teammate to their side.

Meanwhile, City, who are still staggering from UEFA's Financial Fair Play rebukes, would have to justify their 1,00,000 pounds-a-week deal that their offering to Sagna, who might end up on the substitutes' bench, the report added.
