The ninth edition of annual art exhibition, hosted by Manipur Kala Academy, has attracted a good number of young artists from the state.
Nandkumar Singh, the curator of this institution, said today that the 'curtains up' for this event titled Manipur State Art Expo-2013 was held a day earlier.
He also said that a jury had previewed the works of numerous artists and short-listed them to exhibit their creations.
He said the focus of the exposition has to promote the hidden talents of Manipur and pep up their artistic traits, and added that five artists have also been selected to receive cash awards for their outstanding works in their respective categories.
"We have been following such a tradition especially to promote those younger artists of Manipur and they have a good chance for display of their works. They have submitted their works in our academy. Then we have educated (sic) for jury, the jury have selected such exhibition on display here so altogether they have selected 53 works," said Nandakumar Singh.
A notable hallmark of this year's exhibition has been awards to be presented in five different categories.

It has provided an apt platform for 43 artists who have submitted their creations 53 in total.
Among these are 32 paintings, 12 sculptures, five graphics and 10 sketches and drawings.
The winners of Manipur State Art Expo-2013 are Milan Laishram and Th.Robindro in painting, A K Bedajit in sculpture, Y Saphabi in drawing and W Khagemba in graphics.
The event sponsored by Lalit Kala Akademi, the country's nodal body for applied and visual arts, would come to an end on Friday.
