Protestors blocked vehicular traffic along the NH37 by burning tyres and planks after militant organisation Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF) kidnapped and killed two labourers.
Decrying the act by the KRF, a public meeting was also held in the Patsoi area of Imphal, with leaders of the civil society organisations, including the All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO) and United Committee Manipur (UCM) participating.
Both victims, along with a minor, were reported missing since May 10, with the KRF reportedly claiming that the three were informers for another underground outfit.
The minor is currently undergoing treatment at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in the city, where he is in a critical condition after undergoing interrogation at the hands of the KRF.
Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East and Imphal West police commandoes have arrested eight cadres of the KRF in the Thingshat village in the Senapati district during a massive hunt for the militants.
