A total of 87 percent voter turnout was recorded till 5 p.m. today in Imphal East of the two-phased Manipur Assembly elections. It was its highest ever for the constituency.
With 38 constituencies going for polls, the elections will fight on 60 seats.
Security arrangements were made for the electorate at 2,794 polling stations that have been set up across the state.
The final figure for the voter turnout will be available only when these poll parties return.
The second-phase will be held on March 8.
