The first-ever state level Mango festival was recently organized in Manipur's Kakching town to give an opportunity to farmers to showcase their produce.
There were around 17 stalls in the two-day event organized by the Fidelity Horticulture cum Sugarcane Growers' Cooperative Society.
The top mango producer was awarded a cash prize of Rs.5000.
The inaugural function of the festival on June 21 was attended by Manipur's Education Minister M Okendra as the chief guest, while MLA M Kunjo was the president.
MLA Y Surchandra and Vice Chairperson of Kakching Municipal Council were the guests of honour.
A torch rally was taken from Kakching Irabot Park till Kakching Laipham Loknung via Kakching Bazar before the festival was declared open.
Range Officer of Kakching Forest Range, N Munal Meitei led the torch rally.

In all, 17 stalls were set up during the Mango festival.
The valedictory function of the festival was graced by various Manipuri artists and a Mango musical night was also arranged.
