Born to Meisnam Ramesh Luwang and Ratna Devi, Meiraba is the only international badminton player from Manipur. He is currently studying in class VIII.

Meiraba's father has high hopes from his son.

I am happy but my dream has not yet been fulfilled because now he is only 13 years old and he has to play for different categories .So when he reaches such level it will fulfill my dream because that's my target for him and I want him to represent India at both junior and senior category," said Romesh Luwang, Meiraba's father.

" Now we cannot decide anything for his future but we will always support him and we will let him do what he want to do in the future, added Meisnam Ongbi Ratna DeviI, mother of Meiraba.

Meiraba has won 16 medals in Under 13 andUnder 15 age categories.

He is also the youngest recipient of the Olympic Gold Quest scholarship from the Northeast in his age category.

"I got a good experience. Before when I start playing outside I use to get nervous because of the crowd and I have never played like that in Manipur in a big crowd so I got a good experience for that and I can interact with people without nervous and now I can play anywhere," said Meiraba .

Meiraba has once proved that youth from the Northeast are second to none.
