Maoists attacked district police station in 'red corridor' region, after a fierce gunbattle killed one cab driver and set two trucks ablaze in Gaya.
The cross-firing between red rebels and police started at around 11 pm in the night and went on for a couple of hours.
"Maoists aimed at the station and surrounded it. They started firing at 11.05 and fired continuously," said Assistant Sub Inspector of Police, Anil Kumar.
Kumar said that the number of Maoists who carried on the operation could not be estimated as the surprise attack came in the dead of the night. They tried to barge in the police station, but the counter attack by the security officials failed their attempts.
A taxi driver, who was on a daily commute with a family from Odisha to Aurangabad, became victim of Maoists reckless violence.
"On GT road they killed a civilian. They were going from Odisha to his village in Kutumba. The driver died. And they set the trucks on fire," said Kumar.
