In a joint operation, paramilitary and police personnel have killed a Maoist in Gumla District, Jharkhand.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint police-CRPF security operation was launched to find and kill the Maoist.
"A self-loaded rifle has been recovered. Further investigations are going on," said Superintendent of Police Rajesh Bansal.
Meanwhile, in another incident in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Maoists attacked a village and killed its headman.
"More than 50 to 60 Maoists attacked Ralagappa Village of Balpam Panchayat and killed the village head in the name of certain activities which were not in favour of the ideology adopted by Maoists," said Superintendent of Police Vineet Brijlal.
