Two Maoists, including the rebel who allegedly attacked a BSF team in 2005, were arrested at separate places in Jharkhand's Palamau and Ranchi districts of the state.
Acting on a tip off, police arrested Dukhi Saaf alias Jagira and his associate Lalan Singh on Saturday.
Jagira is the area commander in the region and is wanted in several cases.
Jagira's arrest comes as a major breakthrough as he has given valuable information to the police about his outfit as well as other militant groups that are operating in the region.
"Dukhi Saaf alias Jagira, who is the area commander of the Kulosini sub zone was arrested from Banki Bazar. He is wanted in more than a dozen cases of Maoist attacks and other such involvements. He is wanted in Gaya, Chhapra and Palamu areas of the region. He has given us enough information about the Maoist organizations and we shall act on it soon," said Narendra Kumar Singh, the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Palamu district.
