A fisherman was 'accidentally' shot by maritime security personnel at Bombay High on Sunday.
An immediate support vessel (ISV) noticed a fishing boat anchored close to an oil platform in the Offshore Development Area, following which security personnel sent repeated warnings to the vessel in question.
When the boat refused to move out of the prohibited area, warning shots were fired. One of the shots accidently hit a fisherman.
The fisherman was immediately evacuated by helicopter and taken to hospital. His condition is reportedly stable now.
An enquiry has been ordered into the incident.
