Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger join hands for 'rock n roll' drama 'Vinyl'

Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger are teaming up for an upcoming record label drama titled 'Vinyl.'

Set in 1970s New York, the TV series stars which Olivia Wilde, Jagger's son James and Bobby Cannavale, and will tell focus on a fictional record label called American Century records, exploring the drug-fuelled music business at the dawn of punk and disco, the Guardian reported.

Co-produced by Scorsese and Jagger, the project will be penned by 'The Sopranos' writer Terence Winter, who has previously worked with Scorsese on 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'The Wolf of Wall Street,' and 'Breaking Bad's George Mastras.

The series will also star Juno Temple, PJ Byrne, Joe Caniano, Andrew Dice Clay, JC Mackenzie, and Birgitte Sorensen.

Scorsese and the Rolling Stones frontman had previously worked together on the documentary 'Shine a Light,' which was based on the band's 2006 Beacon Theatre performance on their A Bigger Bang tour.

The drama will premiere on HBO in 2016.
