Largest car maker automobile company Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced a hike in prices on its selective models across its range of vehicles by up to Rs. 20,000 to offset the impact of adverse foreign exchange movement.

The company in its BSE filing announced the price increase to be effective from August 1, 2016.

"This price revision is based on factors like segment wise demand, forex movements and strategic objectives of the company," the car maker said in the BSE filing.

While the average price increase ranges from Rs. 1500-5000, the price hike in case of the new launches, including Baleno and Vitara Brezza, are likely to stand up to Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
