Former Swedish tennis star Mats Wilander has said that Wimbledon champion Andy Murray must set himself New Year targets of becoming world No.1 and a better player.

The Scot, seeded No.4 in Melbourne, returns to Grand Slam action at the Australian Open next week following back surgery and will now play exhibition matches at the Kooyong Classic to find match fitness.

According to the Mirror, Wilander, who won seven Grand Slams, said that Murray now has to set himself new mental challenges after achieving his life-long ambition of winning Wimbledon last summer, adding that he should now play to become a better player and a legend.

Stating that Murray can now turn into the player he is actually with his touch, physical strength and repertoire of different shots, the Swede also said that it is now time for Murray to step up his level and play to his potential and ability.

However, Wilander warned that Melbourne would come too soon for Murray to win his third Major because of his physical state.
