Bahujan Samaja Party chief Mayawati on Saturday challenged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to renovate the memorials of party founder Kanshi Ram and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and said that if he could not do so, he should stop expressing concern about them.
"Memorials of Kanshi Ram and B.R. Ambedkar are in a bad condition due to years of negligence. If the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister is concerned about Kanshi Ramji, then why doesn't he do anything for the maintenance of his memorial? This will definitely give some peace to Kanshi Ramji's soul," Mayawati told ANI.
Earlier in the day, the chief minister said Kanshi Ram's soul would be deeply hurt with what is happening within the BSP under the leadership of his protege Mayawati.
He said, "They (BSP) should introspect that why did they do away with the movements started by Kashi Ram and are indulging into corruption."
Adityanath's statement comes in the backdrop of Mayawati's decision to sack BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui.
