Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday condemned the attack on an army camp in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, saying the government needs to review its foreign policies.
Mayawati said it is extremely painful that incidents like these keep on taking place one after another.
"The government must take this seriously and it also needs to review the foreign policies. Just the speeches will not help. It's not good that our soldiers are killed every day. I condemn it in strong words and I don't find the government serious on such issue," she added.
Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she added that the former had promised during the recently-held general elections that Indian borders would be safe and that a befitting reply would be given.
Earlier today, five Army jawans and two police personnel were killed after six militants attacked an Army camp at Mohra in Baramulla district.
The attack comes just four days ahead of elections in Uri and six other constituencies of the Baramulla district on December 9.
