Despite being convicted of domestic violence in 2011, unbeaten US boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has denied that he hit his former girlfriend, claiming that the colour of his skin and his notoriety contributed to his arrest.

Mayweather plead guilty to reduced misdemeanor charges after his former girlfriend claimed that he had hit her in front of their children. He was sentenced to 90 days in prison before being released after serving two months.

However, now Mayweather, who faces Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in the richest bout of boxing history on May 2 in Las Vegas, has revealed his side of the story, saying that he didn't hit her, The Mirror reported.

The American boxer said that he didn't kick, stomp and beat someone, insisting that he can look in ones face and say that it didn't happen.

Mayweather denied attacking ex-girlfriend Jodie Harris and instead claimed that he was merely trying to restrain her. He said that he did try to restrain her, adding that if that is domestic violence, then he is guilty of restraining someone.

Despite pleading guilty to the reduced charges Mayweather claims the colour of his skin and his notoriety contributed to his arrest and subsequent conviction. He said that he is black, rich and outspoken, adding that those are three strikes right there.
