New Zealand swashbuckling skipper Brendon McCullum has vowed to continue batting aggressively at the top order in the upcoming World Cup, which gets underway from February 14 in Australia and New Zealand.
Banking on robust middle-order batting, McCullum said that he was comfortable with an aggressive move, adding that the way they had seen Grant Elliott came in, and perform the way he has, then Anderson and Ronchi, it rounds off their team pretty nicely, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Admitting that the decision to bat up the order was collective one, McCullum further said that they had got punch and counter punch throughout their batting line-up, adding that it would be nice to contribute strongly and justify the decision.
Commenting on the reliability and consistency shown by Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor, the skipper said that they allowed the team to be a bit more aggressive in an area where other teams are probably looking just to get through, the report added.
New Zealand will open their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on February 14 in Christchurch.
