Northern Irish golf ace Rory McIlroy has revealed that he has become much better at handling himself under pressure since the day in 2011 which cost him a Green Jacket, as he prepares to win the Masters at Augusta this week to complete a career Grand Slam.
The world number one golfer is the red-hot favourite to win the Masters and become the first Brit to have landed all four Majors -The Open, US Open, USPGA and the Masters.
McIlroy's shock collapse at Augusta in 2011, when he frittered away a four-shot lead going into the last round, still weighs heavily on him, The Mirror reported.
However, McIlroy declared that he has got used to competing in the biggest tournaments now and he has become much better at handling himself under pressure since that day in 2011 when everything went wrong.
The Northern Irishman said that he showed that at the PGA last year when he turned a three-shot deficit into victory, and insisted that he has come through at other times when he has lagged behind.
McIlroy pointed out that the two Majors he won last year have proved what he could do, and he has learned so much about himself when the chips are down. He insisted that now he wants to keep the engine purring and show that his form in the big events of 2014, when he won The Open and the USPGA, has become the norm.
McIlroy claimed that there is going to be a lot of hype when he arrives at Magnolia Lane but added that he is going there with the sole aim of winning and that means not trying to build himself up too much.
The Northern Irishman said that he is am still trying to improve his performances and feel better prepared for every situation and not get ahead of himself but admitted that it would be fabulous to complete the Grand Slam at 25.
