A 13-year-old girl from Louisiana could be the first human to be on Mars.

Alyssa Carson, who is the first person to have attended all three of NASA's world space camps, has been training to be an astronaut for nine years and is determined to be the first person to land on Martian soil, the Independent reported.

She said that she wants to go to Mars because it's a place no one has been and though she has thought about possibly doing other things, being an astronaut was always first on her list.

Carson, who speaks Spanish, French and Chinese, and tweets about her trips to NASA events and space camps, and the talks that she gives to inspire other children to achieve their goals, insisted that  "failure is not an option".

Even the space agency is taking her seriously, as Paul Foreman from NASA said that Carson is doing the right thing, the right training and is taking all the right steps to actually become an astronaut.
