A Shaolin monk has broken the world record by sprinting almost 400ft on water.

In the video, Shi Liliang, who took just six attempts to best his previous record by a full 60ft (18 metres), is seen dashing a staggering 387ft (118 metres) across a reservoir in China, the Daily Express reported.

To complete the impossible feat, monks sprint over a bridge built of 1cm thick plywood planks strung together and floated on the surface of the water.

A rock is thrown on-top of the planks at the start of the video, showing the bridge can easily be submerged.

Dashing across the planks requires intense focus and strength to use the limited buoyancy of the planks to cross the reservoir in Quanzhou city.

It took Liliang from the Quanzhou Shaolin Temple, who has been training in Qinggong since 2005 and attempted his first record in 2009, only managing a relatively paltry 50ft (15 metres), just 45 seconds to cross the reservoir in his latest record-breaking attempt.
