Former Bayern Munich midfielder Mehmet Scholl has reportedly warned Manchester United that Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal's appointment as club boss could result in his clashes with senior players such as Wayne Rooney.
Scholl, who won eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich and had been the club's reserve team coach under Van Gaal, is reportedly of the opinion that the Dutchman is a 'genius coach' who would guarantee success for United, but is unsure about how long that would last.
Scholl said that Van Gaal, who is expected to be appointed by the middle of next week, is very strict and severe, which means that the players just have the chance to follow him or they are out and he takes the next players, The Guardian reported.
The former midfielder said that Van Gaal is very good with young players but he feels that everywhere the Dutchman has had some problems with the big players and the staff.
Scholl said that the former Bayern Munich coach's success is because he looks for the 14, 15 or 16 players out of the 26,27 players to follow him, adding that Van Gaal's thing is not the motivation, but really working on the pitch.
Scholl said that he feels some of the players, like Rooney, have got to learn anything more, which would make it difficult for the striker if the coach tells him that he has to do it in a 'completely different way'.
Scholl also feels that Van Gaal would prefer Robin van Persie to Rooney as firstly the striker is a Dutch player and secondly he is younger to Rooney.

The German said that Van Gaal is brilliant for the young players as they are always ready to learn, which makes it difficult for the big stars to work with the Dutchman.
Scholl further added that he feels that Van Gaal is exactly the right coach for United and the club would be successful again with the Dutchman without doubt.
