Insiders claimed that Joan Rivers could have been saved if the endoscopy procedure had taken place in a hospital instead of the outpatient clinic, it has been reported.
Sources have revealed that even Melissa Rivers has been telling the same things to her friends, Radaronline.com reported.
But the late 81-years-old actress trusted her gastroenterologist, and had no reservations about having the endoscopy done at Yorkville, sources further added.
It was mentioned that there was no indication from a medical standpoint that the American stand-up comedian should have suffered from any complications. It was a routine procedure that should have taken less than an hour, two hours in recovery, and then she would have gone home the same day.
However Rivers sadly, fell into cardiac and respiratory arrest and even though it only took less than ten minutes to transfer her to Mount Sinai, which was critical time that was lost in transit.
