Barcelona star Lionel Messi has matched Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick during the Champions League with three goals, which led his side to victory during their Group H clash with Ajax at home in the Nou Camp.
According to the Independent, Messi scored the hat-trick twenty-four hours after Ronaldo did the same in Real's 6-1 win over Galatasaray.
Messi's first goal was the pick of the trio with an impressive curling free kick in the 22nd minute, and the report added that Gerard Pique got Barcelona's other goal.
Meanwhile, the report said that in Group H, Napoli took the lead against Borussia Dortmund, while German side Schalke went to the top of Chelsea's group with a 3-0 win over Romanian team Steaua Bucharest.
