The Meteorological Department on Monday said that heavy rainfall is expected in the northern districts of Telangana.

"The monsoon activity in the last three days in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has been very active and vigorous. We have received very heavy rainfall to the extent of even 20-23 centimetres. This activity was mainly due to the depression that was off the coast of south Orissa and north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Yesterday, it crossed the coast and went into inland," said Meteorological Department Director Y K Reddy.

"It is now lying in interior Orissa bordering Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Under that influence, some heavy rainfall is likely to happen in Telangana especially the northern districts of Telangana today and the intensity is gradually going to decrease tomorrow onwards. In coastal Andhra Pradesh also, the rainfall intensity would decrease after today. For the next three to four days that is by the end of June it will be on the weaker side," he added.

Heavy rains continue to lash several parts of Telangana, especially the northern parts of the state.

Heavy rainfall was recorded in Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal and Adilabad districts.
