21-year-old Kyrgios blasted 25 aces and won 81 percent of his first-serve points in the one hour, 47 minute match.
Kyrgios will now meet American Sam Querrey for a place in the final.
Nadal, on the other hand, defeated Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka 7-6 (2), 6-3 to reach the semifinals.
The 30-year-old Spaniard overcame a 4-2 deficit in the first set and got out of a 0-2 hole in the second.
