It is now Mexico, which officially chose family drama 'Roma' to be submitted at the 91st Oscars under the 'Foreign language film' category.

The film, which is directed by Alfonso Cuaron is set in the backdrop of Mexico City in the early '70s, reported Variety. It is the story of a middle-class family who is taken care of by a live-in nanny and housekeeper.

The autobiographically inspired film that has been shot in black and white is being expected to be a strong contender for the best picture nomination. The film will make its debut on streaming giant Netflix on December 14.

The film is set to be Cuaron's second submission at the academy awards after he won an Oscar for his 2013 film 'Gravity'.

On September 13, Taiwan chose 'The Great Buddha+' under the said category.
