A special CBI court on Friday extended the CBI custody of Home Affairs (MHA) Under Secretary Anand Joshi, who was arrested on the charges of issuing Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) notices arbitrarily to the NGOs for financial gains, for five more days.
The CBI sought an extension of his custody as the MHA official's remand was to come to end today.
Joshi fled after the charges of corruption were slapped on him, but was arrested on Monday and sent to the CBI custody by a Delhi Court.
His CBI custody was to come to an end today.
The CBI, which began scrutinising various files related to the MHA Under Secretary on Tuesday, told the court that they found 14 files, of which seven were seized.
"We are trying to find why these files are with him... Joshi was indulging in corrupt practices. The agency wants to confront Joshi with notices issued by him," the CBI told the court.
