Taking a queue from US First Lady, Michelle Obama, women in Pakistani politics too can start social and cultural initiatives and become vocal rather than just staying mum.
Former Pakistani President, Pervez Musharraf's wife, Sehba Musharraf, didn't fit the bill and had a very passive role, and when she was in talks to take up a leadership role it was to just support Pervez's comeback to the country by leading his party, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), and not to make social and cultural initiatives, the Tribune reported.
Wives of Pakistani leaders don't take a stand or come up with social initiatives to eradicate stigmas-they just work alongside their husbands and to politically benefit their husband's party.
On the other hand, there have been some ladies who have had a remarkable role in Pakistani politics like Fatima Ali Jinnah, Rana Liaquat Ali Khan and Nusrat Bhutto, who worked for the empowerment of women.
Also, Pakistani politician Imran Khan always pushes his partner Reham Khan to take stand on social and cultural issues of the country.
