Michelle Obama recalled her own struggles for getting acclimated to college while offering advice to Chicago teens, whose experiences mirrors her life.

The First Lady told students participating in Urban Alliance Chicago, a career education program for underserved high school seniors that she was like them.

She said that living on the South Side, she too wondered what it was like to work in these buildings in downtown Chicago, Politico reported.

She said that when she arrived at Princeton, she discovered a whole world beaming with privilege and opportunity, which she hadn't known existed.

She thrived by building a support network, which included her brother Craig Robinson, two years ahead of her, and encouraged the teens listening to her to do the same.

She told a young woman headed to Trinity College in Connecticut to replicate what she had done there by seeking out the help of others.
